Compared with a twin-needle or zig-zag stitch produced on a conventional sewing machine, a coverstitch is considerably more elastic and durable, making it ideal for hemming stretch fabrics and knitwear.
The Baby Lock Coverstitch specialises in producing this type of stitch. Its simple yet ingenious Jet-Air threading system makes threading quick and easy.
One of its key strengths is its exceptional penetration power and high-precision stitching, whether you are working with firm or stretchy fabrics. Even challenging cross seams are handled with ease.
Another highlight of the Baby Lock Coverstitch is its drop-feed system. The feed dogs are automatically lowered whenever you raise the presser foot, making it much easier to position and remove your fabric.

The Baby Lock Coverstitch features a unique, compact tubular looper system for quick and fuss-free threading. The extra-strong loopers are manufactured to a quality comparable to those used in industrial machines, making the Coverstitch suitable for even the toughest sewing tasks.
Baby Lock coverstitch machines are also unique in their ability to chain off when you run off the edge of the fabric. This useful feature can even be used to create belt loops and tassels.
Jet-Air Threading System
The ingenious Jet-Air threading system makes threading the Baby Lock Coverstitch remarkably quick and easy.
You are free to choose the threading order, without having to follow coloured threading points or start again from the beginning if you make a threading mistake. It also eliminates the frustration of loose threads that can cause tangles and confusion.
Simply insert the chosen looper thread into the threading port, push the lever, and the thread is automatically fed through to the tip of the looper.
The Baby Lock Jet-Air system makes looper threading simple and virtually effortless.
Manual Thread Tension Control
Adjusting thread tension can often be fiddly, particularly when your stitches are not looking quite as they should.
The Baby Lock Coverstitch features separate looper and needle thread tension dials, clearly positioned for easy adjustment. Each tension dial is colour-coded, making it simple to identify and adjust the correct tension for each thread.

Differential Feed

The Coverstitch's adjustable differential feed provides smooth, consistent feeding of stretch fabrics, helping to prevent puckering and unwanted wavy or distorted seams.
The differential feed can also be used creatively to intentionally gather or stretch fabric, allowing you to achieve a range of decorative effects.
Drop Feed
The feed dogs are automatically lowered whenever you raise the presser foot, making it easier to position and remove fabric.
This also helps to prevent the fabric from being caught or damaged when placing or removing it from the machine.
